5 out of 5 stars Perfect Travel Toy   July 11, 2008

I purchaed this magnetic maze for an upcoming 6 hour airplane flight I will be taking with my 27 month old son. I was looking for smallish (to fit in his backback), QUIET toys that would keep him busy for extend periods of time so that he'd not disturb other passengers. I am extremely pleased with this purchase. It is a durable wooden toy (does it get better than wooden toys?) that has a self contained magnetic pen (which is quite strong!) which moves small magnetic balls through a maze to be placed in the appropriate colored block on the turtle's shell. I really love the fact that there is one ball for each color and that there are light and darks of the blues and greens... Not that my son doesn't know his colors (he is 2!) but it is always nice to work on mastered skills whilst introducing new ones like the fine motor skills necessary in moving the balls through the maze. Durable, educational, quiet, something he can do on his own, perfect for travel!

On a side note, may I also suggest a book on turtle's, their colors and a lovely messsage about inner beauty to accompany this maze?! I found an adorable one entitled: Limu: The Blue Turtle by Kimo Armitage. What a hit to use in tandom with the maze!

Best Wishes.

I have seen adults and children at many different ages sit for many minutes moving around the little magnetic balls. Great for teaching color and coordination.

5 out of 5 stars Great, but heavy for travel!   August 13, 2010

I got this to entertain our daughter on a flight but I didn't realize how bulky and heavy it would be (my own fault for not checking, I know). It's great, though, she loves it and it keeps her busy for at least half an hour.

4 out of 5 stars Keep this one in your car for short trips   February 1, 2010

This toy is simple, durable and interesting for kids from about age 1 to 7. It's a good toy to keep in your car for emergency distractions as it requires no batteries or set up.
